INTRO to AYURVEDA May 20 - 7:30pm to 9:30pm RETURNING to BALANCE: April 27 - 1:15pm to 3:15pm Spring season is when the Kapha dosha tend to increase. If not well taken care of with specific foods, simple cleansing techniques, oils etc. gets vitiated and can create an environment for imbalance and illnesses (seasonal, allergies, congestion, poor digestion...). Spring is the season of RI-BIRTH in Nature as well as in us. To be prepared to celebrate the seasons ahead it is essential that we learn how/what to let go of NOW, so that we can make new, fresh space for receiving and embracing the coming seasons. Come learn through simple practices such as diet, self-massage, herbs and oils how to prevent and/or re-balance usual seasonal discomforts. Returning to balance: tips and sadhanas (practices) for the 3 main seasons according to Wise Earth Ayurveda June 8 - 1:15pm to 3:15pm Summer is when the Pitta dosha tends to increase. The element of fire and water, which make up the energies of Pitta, increase during the hot months of Summer and this is when Pitta is most prone to going out of balance. Pitta is responsible for digestion, perception, intelligence, understanding, metabolism etc. hot, oily, light liquid and sharp are Pitta's main qualities. In order to balance these, we need to recognize and use foods, oils, sadhanas that will bring more cooling (opposite) energies that will balance out the heat. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, listening to harmonious sounds, doing light exercise is essential to balancing Pitta. Summer offers us a time for CELEBRATION, with all the outdoors, longer days and an amazing array of fresh foods available at the farmer's markets.
